| Modafinil is an eugeroic drug generally prescribed to treat narcolepsy, made by the
pharmaceutical company Cephalon. It is not a typical stimulant and is marketed
as a "wakefulness promoting agent." With a doctor's prescription,
you can buy modafinil with different commercial trade names: Modalert,
ModaPro, Provigil (USA), Vigicer (Canada), Sparlon, Alertec. Modalert and ModaPro are the cheapest ones, by far. Off-label Modafinil Use? While modafinil is FDA-approved only for narcolepsy, OSAHS and SWSD, many physicians are prescribing it for patients who do not suffer from one of these conditions but exhibit similar symptoms. It is estimated that 90% of the modafinil use in the United States is "off-label".
